Is the Taycan about to get some all-electric company in the Porsche range?
The brand is getting ready to reveal a “future-oriented” concept study at the Munich motor show in September.
So far, we’ve only seen a teaser image of one headlight, but it’s clear there’s some Taycan inspiration in its quad-LED light signature.
It also has what could be interpreted as a modern take on the ‘fried egg’ shape of the 996-generation 911, complete with an orange insert.
Porsche hasn’t given us much more to work with.
We know there’s an all-electric Macan SUV in the works based on the PPE platform being co-developed by Audi and Porsche, but it’s already out and testing in the real world.
We’ve also snapped it in the background of a Porsche video, and it doesn’t have the same snout as the concept teaser, so it’s unlikely there’s a link between the two.
If it’s a motorsports concept, there’s a chance Porsche is linking its Formula E program with its road cars.
Porsche’s last street-legal race car was the 911 GT1 in the late 1990s, complete with fried-egg headlights and orange inserts.
We also know Porsche is investigating an all-electric Boxster and Cayman, the former of which debuted with 996-style headlights.
