Haval has confirmed all the details of its upcoming H6S coupe SUV with official imagery released.

“We certainly like what we see with Haval H6S but it’s still too early to say whether we’ll see it here in Australia or not,” a company spokesperson told CarExpert.

The H6S is based on the mid-sized H6 SUV already offered in Australia.

There are two engine options in China, one of which is the 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder we’re familiar with in Australia.

The other is a hybrid powertrain that pairs a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with a two-speed electric motor and a small 1.8kWh battery pack that stores captured braking energy.

Total system power and torque outputs are rated at 179kW and 530Nm, comparable to the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid that produces 163kW.

Haval claims this powertrain will have a fuel consumption of 4.9L per 100km, which is very close to the claimed consumption of 4.8L per 100km in the RAV4 Hybrid.

Acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in the hybrid H6S is a claimed 7.5 seconds.

The H6S measures 4714mm long, 1940mm wide and 1729mm tall on a 2738mm wheelbase.

This is in contrast to the current Haval H6 wagon that measures 4653mm long, 1886mm wide, and 1724mm tall on an identical wheelbase.

Setting it apart from the H6 wagon is not only the tapered roofline synonymous with coupe SUVs, but its aggressive front fascia, rear exhaust cutouts, and bi-plane style rear spoiler.

There are also shark-eye inspired matrix LED headlights matched with a shark-tooth style contrast coloured grille.

Inside the H6S there are unique ‘deep sea black’ sports seats with contrast accents, with the majority of the interior being shared with the H6 wagon.

This includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment screen.

The H6S isn’t Haval’s first coupe SUV – the brand offers a model called the F7X in China.

The previous-generation H6 we saw in Australia was technically two generations old. We missed out on the model in between, marketed as the H6 coupe in China.

This model is still sold alongside the third-generation H6 in China, which isn’t unusual.
