We know that car showrooms are now open for business, but are test drives allowed? Even showroom personnel aren’t very sure on this, but it’s now crystal clear with the latest set of standard operating procedures (SOPs) released by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) yesterday.
For states in Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (PPN) – which Selangor, WP Kuala Lumpur and WP Putrajaya joined on September 10 – it is explicitly stated that test drives of vehicles are allowed under vehicle distribution and sales centres (pandu uji kenderaan adalah dibenarkan).
However, remember that like restaurant dine-ins and barber shop services, test drives are only for the fully vaccinated. Fully vaccinated means 14 days after your second dose of Pfizer, AstraZeneca or Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine, and not immediately after your second jab. Remember to wear masks at all times and follow all the SOPs.
